Why Transition to IPv6?
The pool of unallocated IPv4
addresses will be exhausted in
2011. The depletion of the Internet
Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) address
allocation pool has been a concern
since the late 1980s, when the
Internet started to experience
dramatic growth. The anticipated
shortage has been the driving factor
in creating and adopting several new
technologies, including IPv6, in
1998. The transition of the
Internet-to-Internet Protocol
Version 6, which can support
3.4x1038 addresses, is the only
available long-term solution to IPv4
address exhaustion. Although the
predicted depletion has been rapidly
approaching for the last few years
most of our customers are just
beginning IPv6 testing and
deployment. They will require the
capabilities of technologies like
Equalizer to enable IPv6 clients to
reach IPv4 hosts, and vice versa.
Our customers understand that
without IPv6 support and IPv4
translation capabilities they'll
limit their global connectivity, and
will not be able to communicate with
new the devices that only support
IPv6.
Simplifying the IPv6 Solution
Customers using an Equalizer GX ADC
running EQ/OS 10 can deploy IPv6
compatibility today with a dual
stack network. This eliminates the
requirement of costly changes to
applications or their server
infrastructure. There is still the
need to maintain IPv4 support and
Equalizer will allow your
applications to be available for
simultaneous IPv6 and IPv4 access.
New Partnership Offers Complete IPv6
Solution
Coyote Point's partnership with
Hurricane Electric can significantly
simplify the IPv6
Transition. Hurricane Electric
operates global IPv4 and IPv6
networks and provides Access Tunnels
to transmit IPv6 traffic inside
normal IPv4 packets. Coyote Point
customers simply enable a tunnel
endpoint within their Equalizer GX
ADC that connects directly to
Hurricane Electric's network to
receive IPv4 and IPv6 transit
solutions over the same connection
at speeds up to 10 Gbps and
greater. 6-in-4 tunneling is a
technique permitting networks which
do not have direct IPv6 connectivity
to obtain an IPv6 address block and
to route traffic to and from the
Internet6. Coyote Point's EQ/OS 10
provides an easy to configure
interface to initiate a "tunnel"
with Hurricane Electric's tunnel
broker service at one end, and
Coyote Point's Equalizer at the
other. It's a very simple way to
bring websites and applications into
the otherwise complex world of IPv6.
Coyote Point's Equalizer offers best
of breed Application Delivery
functionality now combined with
Hurricane Electric's world-class
Internet6 backbone. If you are
looking for a way to rapidly
establish an IPv6 presence on the
Internet this new Hurricane
Electric/Coyote Point partnership
offers just that.

As the supply of available IPv4
addresses becomes exhausted,
enterprises are under pressure to
rapidly deploy IPv6
technology. Hurricane Electric's
tunnel broker services helped us
develop the IPv6 capabilities in our
products, so we're pleased to use
the same technology to enable our
customers to rapidly join the
Internet6.

Coyote Point Participates in Worldwide IPv6 Field Trial!
June 8, 2011
What is World IPv6 Day?
World IPv6 Day was an event sponsored and organized by the Internet
Society and several large content providers to test public IPv6
deployment. On June 8, 2011, Coyote Point Systems participated by
showcasing Equalizer technology to enable IPv6 connectivity to our
public website, www.coyotepoint.com. Coyote Point participated in
World IPv6 Day alongside some of the biggest names on the Internet
such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, and Akamai. The day markd the first
official field trial for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
On June 8, users who accessed www.coyotepoint.com
from an IPv6 enabled device were able to view our site via its IPv6 address.
This capability is available courtesy of a Coyote Point Equalizer E650GX running
EQ/OS 10 firmware and a 6-in-4 tunnel provided by Hurricane Electric. Visitors to IPv6
IPv6 site were treated to a dancing Coyote video, an homage to the
KAME project's dancing turtle.
What's the Significance of World IPv6 Day for Coyote Point Customers?
Coyote Point Equalizer GX Application Delivery Controllers running
EQ/OS 10 support IPv6 network capabilities and include native IPv6 to
IPv4 tunneling capabilities. Coyote Point's Equalizer is recognized as
one of the most reliable and flexible ADC platforms with a long
standing reputation for dedication to quality and performance.
EQ/OS 10 provides complete bi-directional translation and
load balancing between IPv6 and IPv4 networks, and can manage traffic
across mixed IPv4 and IPv6 devices.
