Purpose
This paper has been prepared for IS administrators running BEA WebLogic Application Server farms who want to understand how to deploy load balancing to tie together multiple WebLogic application servers to achieve better scalability and reliability.
This deployment guideline for load balancing BEA WebLogic with Coyote Point Systems Equalizer load balancing appliance assumes the reader is familiar with the general functionality of both server load balancers and BEA WebLogic. All of the steps in this guide are performed on Equalizer and are contingent upon your WebLogic servers being in a functioning clustered configuration.
Benefits
- Improve application availability and uptime
- Reduce single points of failure in your application architecture
- Automated recovery from component failures
- Load balancing ensures more consistent application response
- Improved utilization of different horsepower hardware in application server farm
Prerequisites / Components
- BEA WebLogic version 6 or 7 Application Server for HTTP environments
- Coyote Point Systems Equalizer model E350 or greater, software version 7.2.4d or greater
