Helping our customers manage their
application servers
is what Coyote Point does best. We
view our physical and virtual ADC
appliances as application “Swiss Army
Knives”, whose problem solving
capabilities are limited only by the
creativity with which they are
deployed.
EQ/OS 10 extends the problem solving
capabilities of our Equalizer load
balancer and ADC appliances with new
tools you can use to solve application
delivery challenges. This set of
comprehensive features help our
customers manage their application
servers and infrastructure. There is
even a choice of management interfaces
empowering the customer to choose what
best meets their needs.
Advanced application and server
management capabilities allow
Equalizer to automate tasks that would
otherwise require manual
intervention. They also allow our
customers to direct traffic according
to customizable rules and policies
that help them correct misbehaving
servers, middleware and application
code.
Here are a few examples:
-
Match Rules:
These flexible,
easily scripted rules allow
application administrators to
examine incoming requests and
then choose which servers should
receive which types of requests,
and how those requests should be
handled. Match rules can
evaluate all sorts of request
characteristics such as the
client’s IP address or subnet,
or the path elements in an HTTP
request, all of which can be
combined to give you enhanced
control of how traffic is routed
or processed.
-
Smart Control™:
Smart Control
is the powerful automated
management infrastructure that
EQ/OS 10 uses to modify its own
behavior. Administrators can
create smart control events by
defining triggers and actions to
initiate changes in the
Application Delivery
environment. Smart control can
be used to make changes to the
EQ/OS 10 configuration, for
example, to add or remove a
server based on load or latency,
or to control the surrounding
environment. Smart control
actions are available to control
VMware™ virtual machines or even
physical machines in real time,
with our integrated IPMI control
set.
EQ/OS 10 itself can be managed using a
wide variety of standardized and
custom interfaces to suit a user’s
specific environment:
-
A secure Web based Graphical User
Interface (GUI). EQ/OS 10’s GUI was
designed from the ground up to take
advantage of AJAX interactive
technologies. The result is a richer
interface providing real-time feedback
on application performance and server
status. A popular capability of the
GUI is that it is drag-and-drop
enabled, making it easy to reconfigure
clusters and server pools. Combining
drag-and-drop into our intuitive rule
editor simplifies constructing and
modifying match rules. The GUI
dashboard feature puts the most
important alerts and system status
information in a single window that
you can use to monitor your entire
application delivery stack in
real-time.
-
Our comprehensive Command Line
Interface (CLI) will be very familiar
to users of other enterprise class
networking equipment. EQ/OS 10’s CLI
provides role-based administration for
all configuration objects, making
authorization and accounting
simple. Of course, the CLI includes
built in help and command completion.
-
EQ/OS 10 also provides full SNMP
monitoring capabilities as well as a
restful web API which can be used to
administer and control our products
via third party tools.
Whatever your management requirements,
EQ/OS 10 provides the tools you need
to build, control and expand a
world-class application delivery
infrastructure. Coyote Point has over
a decade of experience working with
our knowledgeable (and demanding)
customers who have taught us how to
deliver ADC management, in the real
world, the right way.
