Important End of Life Notice

Equalizer E350/E450 1U Products

Effective June 15th, 2007 Coyote Point is discontinuing sales of technical support contracts for 1U products. The 1U hardware platform was sold by Coyote Point from 2002 through 2005, and supported Equalizer software 5.2 through 7.2.3.

While this platform performs well as a Layer 4 load balancer, the increasing memory and CPU needs of high traffic environments and Layer 7 traffic management require higher performance hardware. This, combined with the reduced availability of replacement parts has made it increasingly difficult to provide timely service and repair for these systems.

The last supported software revision for the 1U platform will be 7.2.3. Fixes for major bugs and security issues will be released through December 31, 2007 but no new functionality will be implemented. Effective immediately, memory, xcel and other upgrades to the 1U platform are discontinued.

Coyote Point has implemented a Trade-Up program which allows end users to apply the residual value of their 1U units to the purchase of any of the new Equalizer SI series. The residual value is based on age of the unit in the field and can be as high as 25%. Contact your Coyote Point reseller for pricing.

Equalizer 1U hardware platforms are identifiable by serial numbers beginning with the digits 1000 or refer to the following illustration:

Coyote Point will not renew support contracts on 1U systems going forward. Customers who have support contracts in place will continue to be supported until their contracts expire.
